After Effects workshop-18/4/2016

Day one

The day began with a quick introduction to typography and Adobe After Effects with Adrian. For our new project ‘utterly moving words‘ we will be creating a 20 second minimum typographic moving image piece of curated footage using original sound, so this workshop was very helpful as the majority of had never used After Effects before.

Adrian began by showing us this example of a typographic moving images from 1913.

NZSO-The Riot of Spring

I must admit I was a bit scared of After Effects at first especially as Adrian described it as “Photoshop on acid” but it wasn’t as terrifying as I expected. The aim for this session was to familiarise us to the application and for all of us to create a typographic animation by lunch.

I followed Adrian step by step and low and behold I had made two of my own quick typographic moving images!
